about us
You have found the website of a church in the pursuit of "simple". We believe that God has called us to one thing...make followers of Jesus who embrace a journey toward spiritual maturity.
Being a follower of Jesus (a disciple) is a process, it isn't an event. As with any process, there are steps. Mt. Hood Christian Center is striving to be about the steps. Our process for making and being disciples is designed to be simple because we believe the message is too good to be lost in complexity. We encourage each other to do three things:
1: "Love God"
~ Sunday Morning Worship Service ~
This first step in the process is our worship services. Loving God is the most basic and essential aspect of discipleship. The worship service is where guests, new people, and "seekers" most often have a first encounter as to what it means to love God. It is also the weekly event where believers draw close to God through inspiring worship and dynamic biblical teaching.
2: "Love People"
~ Life Groups ~
The second step in the process is how we learn that church isn't about "me and God". We believe that committed and intimate fellowship within the church family is paramount for living a healthy Christian life. Our Life Groups will serve as the primary connecting point for all of us in the church body. Life Groups / small groups are where you are known. These groups meet throughout the week in various locations (homes, church, restaurants), at various times (morning & evening), and have various formats to fit your lifestyle (Bible study, casual, group discussion, etc). Each group looks different from the rest but the one thing in common is that each of them intentionally prays for one another.
3: "Serve Both"
~ Radiating Christ in All Arenas of Society ~
The scriptures call for us to be salt and light to this world (see Matthew 5:13-16). As the year progresses - some deliberate and fruitful patterns of ministry will emanate from each Life Group. We believe that through our Life Groups we are used to minister to people in some very difficult situations where God's miraculous love and power will "set the captives free."
